In the library, we offer individual consultations for students on their written school work in the context of the technical requirements of academic writing.

Specifically, we can help you with:

• bibliographic citations;
• work in the citation manager Citace PRO;
• an assessment of the quality of cited sources;
• advice on where to look for data and full texts for your work;
• tips for improving the visual appearance of written work.

In order to avoid misunderstandings, we will now list the topics with which we (unfortunately) cannot help:

• determination of the topic, formulation of the research question and hypotheses to be tested / verified;
• problem solving methodology;
• processing of research data;
• checking spelling or stylistics;
• interpretation of results.

The consultation is provided exclusively on the basis of a personal meeting with an expected active approach. We do not offer any online services.

If you are interested in this service, write to citace@econ.muni.cz and tell us what the consultation should be about, when it should occur, and who your supervisor is (for the final thesis) – you can also attach the thesis itself. In the case of a qualification thesis (bachelor, diploma, final), we expect that the consultation with SVI will be approved by the supervisor of your thesis.

Group seminars

Each semester, we hold seminars focused on citation issues and offer online training/webinars for purchased e-resources. Individual and group training sessions can be arranged on a variety of topics, especially:

• working with sources
• searching databases
• citation according to ISO 690
