Masaryk University libraries transitioned to the new Discovery library platform. The migration to the new system also included the transfer of user data, including registrations and current loans.
For existing registered users, no action is required to continue using MU library and information services. For searching both printed books and electronic information resources, the new Discovery service is now available, to which the existing domains katalog.muni.cz/ and discovery.muni.cz have been redirected. Video tutorials and further training materials in English can be found on the LibGuides.com website (look for NDE version); tailored manuals for our installation are currently in preparation.
Along with the transition to the new library system, a registration application was also launched in the MU Information System. In addition to registration, users can check their obligations here (loans and any late-return fines), manage the personal data transferred to the library system, and choose their home library. It is also possible to cancel your registration here.
We are also working hard to fully integrate the e-loan (e-prezenčka) service into the new system. Until that happens, the e-loan can be used the "old way" at vufind.ics.muni.cz. Access to electronic information resources via the ezdroje.muni.cz portal, the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) search tool, or directly on the providers' websites remains unchanged.
With the transition to the new system hosted in a cloud environment, the method of personal data processing has changed. Detailed information on how we process personal data is available at libraries.muni.cz/documents/personal-data-protection.
We're still fine-tuning both the content and the design of the new system to make your experience as smooth as possible. If you encounter any issues, please let us know.
